This bridge abutment was part of a railway from the Watford to St Albans Abbey line near Park St to the Midland main lane near to the site of Napsbury station. It was only ever used as a contractors line when the Midland line was being built and not intended to be permanent. However, it seems to have been solidly constructed and there have been suggestions that it could be re-instated .
