The original entrance to the university. The other plinth as mentioned in Image is at the junction with the A27 trunk road on the left hand side. The central reservation of the A27 contains a high fence to prevent daredevil students attempting to run across a 6 lane dual carriageway, they were erected when the former underpass flooded and an accident occurred when somebody not wishing to walk further up to the village to cross via the bridge failed to judge the speed correctly. Beyond the A27 are the houses in Station Approach behind which is the station and beyond that the University of Brighton.
