This is the HSBC bank branch at 931 Walsall Road, Great Barr which is due to close at 2pm on Friday 27th January 2017. This will leave Birmingham New Street, Erdington, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall and West Bromwich as the nearest HSBC branches as the Kingstanding branch at 7 Kettlehouse Road is also due to close forever on the same date. After this branch closes banking services will be available at Great Barr Post Office at 32 Newton Road nearby. I used to think that HSBC - Hong Kong & Shanghai Banking Corporation - stood for Hardly Shaken by Banking Crisis, but events have shown rather differently. The reason given for the closures is given as increased use of online and telephone banking - what will replace the bank has yet to be seen. Time photo taken 4.16 pm GMT (Greenwich Mean Time).
