According to the booklet "A Walk Along Greenock Esplanade", the house that can be seen in the background, between two nearer houses, and just to the left of a tree, is Bagatelle House (Image), built c.1841 for Dr Walter Washington Buchanan (a name I recognised, having seen his gravestone a few years earlier: Image); it later become a nursing home.
