This public footpath comes up the steps from Bourne Avenue and continues ahead to the dead end of St. Stephen's Road. It runs alongside the Wessex Way town-centre by-pass (left). St. Stephen's Road used to go down to Bourne Avenue but was severed to allow the main road to be built in 1973 - the footpath takes the approximate course of the old road. See Image for the view down the steps behind us, with links to further photos along the path, and Image for the view towards us from the end of the path ahead.
