Leaving Thornbury on the Grovesend Road

This short link road connects south-east Thornbury with the A38 leading to Bristol. This link, and the road to the north (left of the camera), was probably built primarily as access to the Oldbury nuclear power station, to avoid heavy traffic through the town centre. This 'easterly ring road' now seems to serve as the limit beyond which Thornbury will not be allowed to expand. For how long, I wonder ... Thornbury has an industrial area, but is primarily a commuter town for Bristol. As there is no rail link, the only methods of transport are car and bus. The roads can get very congested at times!
