An elegant bridge over the Lune of five elliptical arches, balustraded parapet and aedicules on each pier. It was built in 1783-88 to the design of Thomas Harrison who won an architectural competition. His first major commission, it cost £14,000. Pevsner notes that it influenced the design of John Rennie's Kelso (Image]), Waterloo and London Bridges. Grade II* listed.
