As a small group of runners assembled for a half marathon to Newcastle. A full marathon was to catch up towards the finish having started from Morpeth. The M2N inaugural event. The half marathon was called N2N. A cycling option was C2N. Decades ago there was an annual road race on the 1st January of about 13.5 miles down the old Great North Road, the A1, from Morpeth to Newcastle. The number of entrants was never large by the standards of today's distance events. Health and Safety concerns got it stopped as it was largely on open roads. This year's event was designed to reintroduce the idea on modern safety first tracks for a larger number of entrants and with more options. I wasn't last, and got quite a few pictures along the way!
