One of Doynton's older buildings, it seems to have been here for at least five hundred years. Interestingly, it only became a recognised inn from 1801, but remains so to this day. It was once renamed the Crown Inn for a short period, but the change was not that well received and so returned to its original. The pub also claims to be haunted by a former landlord, one Archie Augustus Carrow.
