Built in 1906-09 to the designs of E.W. Mountford, the process overseen by F. Dare Clapham after the former's death in 1908. Suitably proud, fronted by a mighty Ionic portico and crowned with a three-stage tower (Image]). It is built of Longridge stone. The cost of £155,000 was borne by the first Lord Ashton. Grade II* listed. Still offices of Lancaster City Council, as well as a wedding venue naturally.
