Clare College: Thirkill Court

The court, named for Sir Henry Thirkill, Master from 1939-57, was built in the 1950s in the same telephone-exchange Georgian style as Sir Giles Scott’s earlier parts of Memorial Court. The Latin inscription over the doorway commemorates those who died in the Second World War, who will live through the memories of all generations. The University Library towers over the court.
