Hornsea and District War Memorial Cottage Hospital in Eastgate was built as a war memorial in 1922 and opened in 1923 with room for eight beds, which was enlarged to twenty two beds by 1983. These days the threat of closure keeps this NHS minor injuries unit almost constantly in the news.
