Etruria Hall was built for the legendary potter Josiah Wedgwood between 1768 and 1771. By the early twentieth century it presented an extraordinary sight, a Georgian mansion isolated amongst heavy industry and slagheaps. The building was given Grade II listed status in 1973 and restored as part of the 1986 Garden Festival.
