The inscription on the pedestal is BILLY WRIGHT CBE. (CBE is Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire). Billy Wright (1924–1994) was an English footballer who spent his entire career at Wolverhampton Wanderers. He was the first footballer in the world to earn 100 international caps. His final total was 105, of which 90 were as England team captain.
