There has been a shop on this site for over 150 years though it was very nearly lost when the then owners decided to call it a day in 2000 after serious flooding in the village. However, the local community took action, raised the required amount to purchase the premises, and reopened the stores in 2003. The villagers own shares in the non-profit making venture using any money not ploughed back into the business for local uses.
