The head office of Raimes Clark & Co Ltd, the parent company of Lindsay & Gilmour Pharmacies. The street was laid out by James Smith, a successful Leith merchant, in 1816, and John Raimes bought the house from him in 1834. It was used by the owners and management of the firm for 100 years, and then converted to be the head office. Robert Lindsay established a pharmacy at Elm Row in 1826, which is thought to be one of the oldest pharmacies in Scotland [see also Image'>Image
