Grade II Listed late 16th century timber framed former inn. Clive Gwilt describes it in his book, Bridgnorth Through Time, as half of the Bear Inn but it was later known as The Reindeer Inn and shown on an 1835 map as The Buck Inn. It was more recently Mrs Jone’s Sweet Shop and currently (2016) Reindeer Antiques although sporting a for sale board. Directory entries include; 1828 & 1835 in Northgate (High Street in 1828) I only find the Bear and a 'White Horse'; 1842-1851 Thomas Dallaway, Rein Deer; 1859 unable to locate; 1868 Thomas Dallaway, Reindeer, 21 Northgate; 1871 Catherine Swinnerton, Reindeer Inn, 21 Northgate; 1880 George Tyler Nursery and Seedsmen, 25 Northgate; 1891 & 1895 unable to locate; 1913 John Jones, shopkeeper, 25 Northgate. I assume the number change is due to re-numbering.
