The western end of the tunnel. The smaller tunnel to the right climbs a short way up towards Shrewley Village and takes the towpath over the top of the hill through which the canal tunnel is bored. This was originally intended for leading the boat horses over the hill, although how readily they entered this short, steeply graded towpath tunnel is not recorded!
