Edward I died on 07 July 1307 on Burgh Marsh approx 1 mile N of the village. His body lay in St Michael's church before being moved to London for burial. This statue was commissioned to commemorate the 700th anniversary in 2007 and is situated in the village adjacent to the Greyhound public house.
