Derelict buildings beside the Engine Arm

The Engine Arm was constructed as a culverted canal feeder from a reservoir for the Smethwick summit level. It was converted to an open canal when a pumping station was built in 1779 to recirculate water from the lower Birmingham level to operate the Smethwick Locks.
