This bridge over the Chesterfield Canal carries road and pedestrian traffic between the town centre and the railway side of the town. This lock was constructed c.1776 but has had to tolerate subsequent replacements and repairs. A pair of functioning mitre gates are seen here at this end of the 12-15ft long water-containment feature.
