A view of the Grade II-listed lock on the west side of Bridge Place. Bridge Place is the road name for the carriageway that is carried over the Chesterfield Canal almost immediately behind the photographer. This lock was constructed c.1776 but has, understandably, required later replacements and repairs. A pair of mitre gates are operable at the other end of the 12-15ft long water-containment feature.
