Looking out from the Grade I listed medieval Priory Gatehouse. Beyond the market cross is where the B6040 changes its local names, i.e. Potter Street (to the right) and Cheapside (to the left). The Grade II-listed market cross (c. C13th and restored during the C20th) stood in the centre of Worksop until it was re-sited here in 1896. This area was formerly part of the Manor of Radford-by-Worksop, even before the Priory was built; indeed the Priory is named Radford Priory in certain ancient texts. Directly ahead was the former (main) route to Welbeck and Mansfield through parts of Sherwood Forest).
