...on top of the Junior Ranks' Club, Gordon Barracks. The magnificent Hanoverian (1714-1800) Royal Arms cast in Coade stone (see: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coade_stone ) must have come from elsewhere because manufacture of this 'artificial stone' ended around the 1840s and the building dates from the 1930s. Note that this is the 'English' version of the Hanoverian arms (three lions to the left of the first quarter): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_coat_of_arms_of_the_United_Kingdom . It would be interesting to know the history of this remarkable piece.
