The locomotives visible are Stanier 'Black Five' 4-6-0s Nos. 45397 and 45262 (both built 10/36 and withdrawn 8/68, and 8F 2-8-0 No. 48550 (built at Darlington in 1943 and worked on the LNER until 6/47, then passed to the LMSR and withdrawn 9/67). Two years after I took this photograph, the two 4-6-0s were among the handful of steam locomotives to survive on BR to the end, 5/8/68, and Rose Grove was renowned as the very last Steam Depot to close on British Rail.
