This engine house straddles the grid line with only the left hand side of the buildings being in SW9762. Other photos of the building can be seen in SW9662. the mine buildings were recently (March 2015) for sale for £325000 and this is what the estate agent had to say about the buildings: "A rare opportunity to acquire this Grade II listed former engine house and associated buildings with conditional planning permission for three residential dwellings on the site (PA14 02078). Included are two pasture fields with frontage to the B3274. In total the property extends to about 4.84 Acres (1.95 Hectares). The property is a well-recognised industrial landmark situated in a rural position on the slopes of Belowda Hill overlooking Belowda, the Goss Moor and the surrounding area. The buildings comprise the original granite Engine House, boiler house, long barn and smithy. The buildings are Grade II listed as a Building of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. The site is currently accessed through an existing gateway onto a grassed over track alongside a hedge which sweeps around to the front of the engine house. It is proposed to provide a new access alongside the road hedge for which planning permission has been obtained (PA11/02964). Approval has also been obtained for urgent repair works to repoint, consolidate and reinstate structural elements to the mine buildings (PA11 03324) and listed building control consent for the same (PA11 03681). The current owner has however carried out most of this work to preserve the buildings. It is proposed to repair and preserve the main engine house structure and wheel platform and convert three of the associated buildings to dwellings. These include the boiler house into a three bedroom dwelling, the conversion of the long barn into a two bedroom dwelling and the conversion of the old smithy to a one bedroom dwelling. To the east side of the engine house there are also the ruins of an old cottage which could offer further potential in the future (subject to obtaining relevant planning consents). An Historical Note Research shows that Belowda Hill tin mine operated from 1872 to 1902 and was reworked in 1935. The mines main output was fifty-three tons of tin with small quantities of wolfram from the reworking in 1935. The listing comments these buildings form a good group, important both for industrial archaeology and for their landscape value. Services There are currently no main services to the site however the current owners have obtained quotes to run electricity from a nearby pole and also for the installation of a borehole to provide a private water supply with septic tanks then being fitted for the dwellings. These can be discussed in greater detail with any interested parties." Above information from Rightmove.
