One of a group of streets developed in the 1860s on land owned by the Powells of Nanteos, hence the name. The new building is The Old Tabernacle, a development of 22 flats on the site of Y Tabernacl, a Welsh Calvinistic Methodist chapel built in 1880, one of the largest in Aberystwyth, but which ceased to be used in 2002. In 2008 it suffered major fire damage and had to be demolished.
