Boasting to be the oldest pub in the former settlement of Melcombe Regis, the dog logo appears to be a somewhat newer device. Just down the road and over the Town Bridge is another pub, the Boot, also claiming a long lineage - in the old part of a village that was once separate from today's Weymouth.
