At the crossing with Downham Road. Part of the area known as De Beauvoir Town. As originally planned in the 1820s, this was to be a development of housing for the wealthy, laid out in a series of squares and avenues. It was never completed due to land ownership problems, but the name remains, along with one of the squares and some period buildings and street names.
