The railway journey between Birmingham and Wolverhampton provides fleeting glimpses of many of Birmingham's waterways. Here, running alongside the New Main Line of the Birmingham Canal, one has a quick glimpse of the Gower Branch running off at a right angle: in its short dead straight length, it climbs through three locks to the Old Main Line further up the hillside.
