A very good modern office complex, built in 1964-65 to the designs of Fry, Drew & Partners for Pilkington. Construction was prolonged by "encountering long-forgotten mineshafts". The well-composed black-slate clad blocks sit in a green landscape including a lake rather like a small country estate, although the reminders that one is not in such a place are not far away. Grade II listed. Pilkington has left and the buildings looked slightly neglected at the time of the photo. It has since been sold to new owners.
