This is Gryme's Dyke, a Roman defensive line built about the latter half of the first century AD. This bridleway runs along the ditch, with a bank on the east, or right side. It forms the western edge of the extensive scheduled ancient monument area of Gosbecks Iron Age and Romano-British site.
