Two railway crossings and a road crossing are the nearer bridges. The nearest is the Quarry Line of the London - Brighton route, a late LB&SCR bypass around Redhill and the section of line owned by the SER. Next, completely hidden behind the near bridge but its shadow is visible, is the original route through Redhill. This was shared by the LB&SCR with the SER, but owned by the SER who favoured their own traffic that turned off for the Channel ports at Redhill. This led to frequent delays to the Brighton traffic, hence the Quarry Line. Beyond that is the road bridge for the A23.
