The name of the fields according to Steyning's 1840 tithe map that have been merged along with Image to the east to form a much larger unit. Turnpike Field was in the foreground adjacent to Washington Road, the A283, that was built as a turnpike in the early 19th century, whilst House Meadow was to the north adjacent to Image and Great Alders Wood.
