Dalmellington Motte is an ancient mound dating back to the 11th century. A fortified wooden tower house would have occupied the site, which is about 60 feet in diameter at the top and about 30 feet above the lower bailey area. The site is well-preserved and well-maintained. For an excellent aerial view, visit the Canmore site https://canmore.org.uk/site/42573/dalmellington-motte
