Attingham Hall was built for the 1st Lord Berwick in 1785. The house remained in the family until 1947 when Thomas and Teresa, 8th Lord and Lady Berwick handed it over to the National Trust on the death of the 8th Lord. For many year from 1946 until 1975 the building was home to an Adult Education College.
