Part of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Menevia, the 14-sided church was designed by Swansea architect Robert Robinson and completed in 1967. The Imaging The Bible website states that the Church of the Blessed Sacrament is one of only three churches built in a similar style in the UK, the others being Liverpool's Metropolitan Cathedral http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/4814990 and the Church of St Mary, Wigan, both much larger buildings. The Church of the Blessed Sacrament was Grade II listed in 2007.
