Lower Chapel (Capel Isaf) is a small, nucleated, valley-floor settlement which developed surrounding its church. It is situated on the east bank of the Afon Honddu. The hamlet, which straddles the B4520 Builth Wells to Brecon road, lies approximately 3 miles to the south of its sister settlement, Upper Chapel (Capel Uchaf) and is approximately 4½ miles to the north of Brecon. This stone building is dated “1852”. It stands just outside St Michael’s churchyard.
