Steyning By-Pass

Image: © Simon Carey Taken: 5 Jun 2016

Opened in 1981 on the former trackbed of the Shoreham-Christ's Hospital railway that had opened in 1861 and closed in 1966. This view would once have taken in the approach to Steyning station which, along with the goods yard was located to the right. See https://c1.staticflickr.com/4/3704/10855000824_3754a125ae_z.jpg for a 1961 view from the north. All that survives is a former goods shed, see Image and a couple of cottages, see Image
