Arbroath Football Club have the distinction of being a world record holder in professional football. In 1885 the club recorded a victory of 36-0 against Aberdeen Bon Accord in a Scottish Cup tie. It is suggested that the score would have been much higher as there were no goal nets in those days and time would have been wasted retrieving the ball each time a goal was scored!
