Although bearing Victorian scars, the building dates from the early C18th. It is now home to the Tooting Constitutional Club and has been designated as an Asset of Community Value, which "means that if the owner wishes to sell the building he must give the local community a six month window in which to raise sufficient funds to purchase it". In 2015 Wandsworth Council rejected an application to demolish it and replace with a block of flats. The developer is appealing, only in the sense that he is attempting to have the decision overturned by the Secretary of State.
