Nowadays Green Lane is an ordinary residential side-road in this bungalowy neighbourhood, but ahead of us, as it approaches its southern end, we get more of an idea of why it is called Green Lane. Just beyond what is properly visible in the picture, it becomes a small path through a bit of public green space.
