The large memorial is to Sir Francis Hugh George Hercy (14 May 1868-13 February 1947). A native of Winkfield he served with distinction in the First World War Career. He was awarded the CBE in 1918 and was knighted in 1921: Obituary- The Times (London, England), Saturday, Feb 15, 1947; pg. 4; Issue 50686
