Cow Roast Lock

The name may give the idea of a restaurant selling roast beef or similar. In fact, the name Cow Roast originates from Cow Rest and refers to a time when the area had large cattle pens. These pens were used by drovers heading for London from the Midlands. The lock is the first descending south from the Chilterns.
