Although this former public house closed in 2012 and was converted into a private residence, the sign on top of a post remains in situ. It is at the edge of what was the car park. The sign indicates that it was at one time a Greene King house. They acquired a lot of pubs in this area when they took over the Morland Brewery of Abingdon in 2000. At the time of the sale the pub was owned by Admiral Taverns. The Fox is a very common pub name, probably because the animal's picture was easily recognised in the days when most people were unable to read or write. Image
