High Street lies 10-15 yards away behind the photographer. The Sileby Brewery was taken over by the Strettons of Derby in 1920 and later on - in 1927 - by Samuel Allsopp & Sons. It was a brewery was well-known for stout production. It remained in use until the early 1980s but between then and some time recently was awaiting redevelopment.
