Viewed across Court Orchard from the corner of the B4224, the main road through the Herefordshire village. Fownhope Fire Station is part of the Hereford & Worcester Fire and Rescue Service. Their website states this fire station covers an area of c32 square miles, with the population living in small villages scattered across a largely rural area. The station is close to the city of Hereford, with Ledbury to the east and Ross-on-Wye to the south. This is a retained fire station, staffed solely by on-call firefighters, who respond to emergency calls whenever needed. The station has a Dennis Sabre fire engine, which is a first-line attack engine, carrying a crew of up to six firefighters along with firefighting and rescue equipment.
