The house on Lower Woodfield Road was built in the 1840s for Edward Vivian, banker and benefactor, who co-founded the Torquay Natural History Society and created the Vivian Institute on Braddons Hill Road West, shown at http://www.geograph.org.uk/search.php?i=63302682 .
