I assumed this was work taking place in connection with the development of the country park, but a bit of research suggests it is quarrying work, perhaps in connection with permission to excavate a bed of limestone believed to have been left during earlier working of the site http://www1.somerset.gov.uk/council/board11/2011%20May%2012%20Item%207%20Extraction%20of%20Ham%20Hill%20Stone%20from%20a%20previously%20worked%20area%20at%20Ham%20Hill%20North.pdf . If so, the applicant states that "the area will be restored in accordance with the localised limestone ecosystem, by allowing the area to naturally revegetate". In the background is Image
