A purpose built office block on Manchester Road, Droylsden housing the office of the Greater Manchester Pension Fund http://www.gmpf.org.uk/ It was opened in 2015 and is named in honour of a local lad who died in Helmand province, Afghanistan, in 2007 while serving with the 1st Battalion, Grenadier Guards. Tony was 20 when he lost his life in an explosion near the town of Sangin. http://public.tameside.gov.uk/pressreleases/f1030pressreleasestory107.asp?story=847 GMPF has moved to Guardsman Tony Downes House from its previous offices in the Concord Suite Image on the other side of Manchester Road. Although the fund serves public employees from across Greater Manchester it is administered by Tameside Council. It is the largest scheme of its kind in the UK.
